This morning just after 1:30 am, KCPD  officers were dispatched to the area of Truman Road and Hardesty on reports of a car prowler. While the officers were en route to the call, it was updated to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in a business parking lot who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. EMS personnel responded to the scene and declared the victim deceased. That victim has since been identified as seventeen year old Jesus Mendoza of Kansas City, MO

Officers then located another male victim nearby suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. That individual was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The preliminary circumstances surrounding this incident indicate that several parties were involved in a disturbance when shots were fired.

Homicide detectives and crime scene officers have responded
and are actively working on identifying a person of interest and police do not currently have anyone in department sociak workers also responded to the scene to assist.
