Songwriters looking for a platform to project their voices or music fans looking for places to hear live music in the Northeast, should to visit PH Coffee on July 16 for the Songwriters Sanctuary. The event occurs every third Sunday of the month from 3 to 6 p.m.

With no cost of attendance, the Songwriters Sanctuary provides an accessible platform for songwriters to introduce themselves to the community, network with heartland songwriters, and present their original works.

The inspiration for the Songwriters Sanctuary stemmed from the June “Only Originals” event hosted by PH Coffee, in which creators were encouraged to perform their own music.

According to Afton Bradley, event coordinator with PH Coffee, following the “Only Originals” event, a representative with the Heartland Song Network named Danny Powell reached out to owner Eric Rosell to “try to create a workshop type situation that allows people to perform their music.”

“It was cool to hear that there was some diversity in the type of music that was performed,” Bradley recalled.

She emphasized how much of a networking opportunity the event provides for local artists amongst themselves and with the Heartland Song Network. Most importantly, according to Bradley, the Songwriters Sanctuary is just “one avenue that we have poured love into and some of our hearts into.”

All participants, songwriters and spectators must register for the event by 3:45 p.m. on the Sunday of the performances. Songwriters may perform one original song and may be accompanied by one other singer if they wish.
