For hours, a 33-year-old woman was held against her will, beaten, forced to eat bugs and had her mouth superglued shut. Then, the perpetrators left her naked in a parking lot.
Four people have now been charged in the case and include Michelle R. Lingle, 37; Anthony L. Pinion, 43; Nicole Strohm, 37; and Manley D. Gilbert, 49, all of Kansas City, Mo.
All four have been charged with felonious restraint. Strohm, Lingle and Pinion have also been charged with second degree assault, armed criminal action and several counts of third degree assault. Strohm and Lingle were also charged with theft.
According to court documents, the incident occurred over a two-day period in June of 2012. The victim stated that Strohm gave her a ride to Strohm’s residence in the 5800 block of 10th Street, where the beatings began. Strohm held the victim against her will and teenage witnesses in the home told police they witnessed Strohm, Lingle and Pinion kick and hit the victim multiple times. According to court documents, Strohm also beat the 33-year-old with a wooden object. According to the victim, Strohm also stole her jewelry, forced her to swallow pills, cut off her hair and superglued her mouth shut. A witness told police that Pinion and a juvenile forced her to eat bugs.
Later, Strohm, Pinion and Lingle drove the victim to a parking lot in the East Bottoms, where they drove off, leaving the victim standing naked. The victim flagged down a passing car and the driver called police. She was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where she received medical attention for bleeding on the brain, multiple bruises and abrasions on her face and body, and blistered and swollen lips and gums.
