Northeast Ruse
KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Officials with Cashphlash, an international payday lending agency, has expressed interest in constructing a nine-story office tower on the recently vacated corner at Independence and Benton Boulevards.
The new structure would occupy the northeast corner of the intersection where a church and most recently an apartment building once stood. The roughly $20 million project is seeking tax abatements in order to make the project viable.
“We’re pretty excited about moving in to such a welcoming neighborhood,” Stan Fane, Executive Vice President of Development for Cashphlash, said. “Independence Avenue is ripe territory for our business. We can see room for at least two additional title loan offices along the Avenue corridor. The business is here, we want to be a part of it.”
Construction could start as soon as June 1, 2016, if the city’s Industrial Regulations department approves the plans. According to sources, since the new construction is located in an urban area, no public comment is needed to approve the project.
