KANSAS CITY, Missouri — If you drove past the Concourse Wednesday afternoon, you might have seen a couple dozen Kansas City police officers, squad cars and motorcycles surrounding the area.

Nobody was arrested, they were there to continue a photographic tradition.

Captain Darrell Bergquist said officers gathered at the Concourse for a photograph of all the motorcycle drivers together.  Bergquist said the last photo taken of the Traffic Unit in the Concourse was 25 years ago. The Captain said the photo was more than just a historical representation of the unit together.

“It’s a thing of pride for us,” Bergquist said.

Chief Darryl Forté, who was in attendance for the photo, has been a big proponent of the “wheel school,” motorcycle training program. Forte said the department’s Traffic Unit is nationally recognized.

“Representatives from the RNC to the MLB All-Star game complimented us, saying how professional we were,” Forté said.
