It may be summer, but Kansas City Missouri School District hasn’t forgotten about its students or their families.
To ease financial burdens on families, KCMSD will be offering free nutritious breakfasts and lunches to students on weekdays at four campuses during the summer school session from June 27 to July 26. Any student aged 18 or younger is welcome to come eat.
“During these difficult economic times, there may be students missing out on important nutritional opportunities when school is not in session,” Superintendent Dr. John Covington said. “We are pleased to help fill that void by allowing all students to enjoy healthy meals during the summer school session.”
Adults are also welcome and adult breakfasts will cost $2.50 and adult lunches, $3.25.
Meal times will be Monday through Friday and include:
•Elementary breakfast – 7 a.m. to 7:20 a.m.
•Elementary lunch – 11 a.m.
•Secondary breakfast – 8:30 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.
•Secondary lunch – Noon
Meals will be served at the following schools: Satchel Paige Elementary, 3310 E. 75th St.; Wheatley Elementary, 2415 Agnes; Gladstone Elementary, 335 N. Elmwood; and Central High School, 3221 Indiana.
