KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City Missouri Police Department’s East Patrol Division will move to its new location next week and close for two days during the transition.
The front desk of the current station at 5301 E. 27th St. will close at 6 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. East Patrol will reopen in its new building at 2640 Prospect Ave. at 6 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. After that time, the facility at 5301 E. 27th St. will no longer be open to the public.
East Patrol officers will continue to answer calls and patrol as normal during the transition. During the two days the East Patrol lobby is closed, residents needing to make or obtain a report should go to another patrol division station (the nearest is Central Patrol Division at 1200 E. Linwood) or Police Headquarters at 1125 Locust St. Signs on the current station also will advise passersby of the change. All East Patrol Division phone numbers will remain the same.
While the new station at 2640 Prospect will be open for business Nov. 14, the grand opening celebration will not take place until Dec. 1. At that time, the public will be able to tour the new East Patrol Division and Kansas City Regional Crime Lab, which are located on the same campus. The Crime Lab is not normally open to the public. Tours will be from 1 – 3 p.m. and 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., with the dedication ceremony at 3:30 p.m. More information on the grand opening celebration will be forthcoming.
