Community crime meetings

Community members are continuing to meet every Wednesday at noon at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd. The group brings neighborhood safety concerns together and forwards them to the police department. All are welcome.

Teen Hip Hop Academy
Every Wednesday beginning at 4:40 p.m., Jeremy and his crew from Hip Hop Academy host this free event at the North-East Public Library, teaching creativity to youth through the positive elements of Hip Hop culture. Draw your own paper doll
It’s another Museum Kids Saturday Workshop at the Kansas City Museum. Youngsters will learn about paper dolls and how to make them from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd. Bring a friend at no extra charge – two children for just $10. EMPOWER kidney disease classes
Free classes are available on March 8, 15 and 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at four Kansas City area locations. Classes will teach guests how to take control of kidney disease and make healthy choices. Call (816) 842-0076 to register.

Newhouse Shelter Showdown Kick-off Rally
Kansas City’s Newhouse is hosting a showdown, challenging KU, MU and K-State fans to raise the most money for the Newhouse domestic violence shelter. The rally will be Tuesday, March 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Boulevard Brewery, 2501 Southwest Blvd. Cost is $25, which includes drinks and a pint glass. Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association meeting
Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association will host its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Scuola Vita Nuova Charter School, 544 Wabash.The program will be presented by Kansas City Police Officer James Schriever, an assistant police chief and another KCMO representative regarding Kansas City’s earnings tax.
