Pendleton Heights Talk
The National Archives at Kansas City will host Kent Dicus, past president of the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association, at 6:30 p.m. for a discussion of the book “Pendleton Heights: Then and Now, First Suburb of Kansas City.” Dicus will be available to sign copies of the book after the discussion. A 6 p.m. reception will precede the event. This event is presented in partnership with the Kansas City Museum. The National Archives at Kansas City is located at 400 W. Hard hat tours
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family.  Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will now host the free tours on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Million Dollar Movie
Check out North-East Public Library’s “Million Dollar Movie” at 10 a.m. at the library, 6000 Wilson Rd. Each month the library presents some of the best in classic cinema for your viewing enjoyment. The movies are shown on the library’s big screen, free of charge. Refreshments are provided so sit back, relax and enjoy some cinema magic.

Teen Book Club
Love to read? Join North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., at 4:30 p.m. to discuss this month’s books. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Story Time and Craft
Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. This story time group promotes literacy in children with the participation of caring family members.

Beads, Beans & Beers Fundraiser
Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Beads, Beans & Beers fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Askew Inn, 3600 Independence Ave. Tickets are $10 at the door and includes beads, red beans and rice, and one beer. Tickets can be picked up at the door.  A silent auction will begin at 7 p.m. and a live Cajun auction will begin at 8 p.m.! Come in Mardi Gras costume and compete for the king and queen prize! Proceeds benefit Historic Northeast Events.

Pool Tournament at AJ’s Bar
Check out AJ’s Bar, 2618 Independence Ave., for a pool tournament and taco dinner! It all begins at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $10 and pays for 1st and 2nd place prizes. Tacos are only $1.

Sign up for a free email account and  learn the ins and outs of sending and receiving email, as well as how to organize your messages. The workshop will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Check out North-East Public Library’s Sunday Family Movie at the library at 1:30 p.m.

Hard hat tours
Take a 90-minute tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old  old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family, with Museum Director Christopher Leitch. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will examine 100-year-old craftsmanship, see the ornate salon and library and view the exquisite stained glass windows. Tour members must wear closed-toed shoes and children must be accompanied by an adult. Tour begins at 12:30 p.m. and costs $5. Advance registration is required. Call (816) 483-8300.

NE Chamber and the Mavericks
Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is trying something different by having an outing at the March 2 Missouri Mavericks game. Game starts at 7:05 p.m. The Chamber has 20 tickets that are being held and tickets are $20 each. Payment is due Feb. 21.
