Community crime meetings

Community members are continuing to meet every Wednesday at noon at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd. The group brings neighborhood safety concerns together and forwards them to the police department. All are welcome.

Teen Hip Hop Academy

Every Wednesday beginning at 4:40 p.m., Jeremy and his crew from Hip Hop Academy host this free event at the North-East Public Library, teaching creativity to youth through the positive elements of Hip Hop culture. Community curator lecture at Union Station

Explore artifacts from the first black labor union with guest community curator, Dr. Delia Cook Gillis, from the Center of Africana Studies at University of Central Missouri. The event begins at 6 p.m. at Union Station, 30 West Pershing Rd., and is free to the public. However registrations are encouraged. EMPOWER kidney disease classes

Free classes are available on March 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at four Kansas City area locations. Classes will teach guests how to take control of kidney disease and make healthy choices. Call (816) 842-0076 to register.

English class enrollment

Enrollment for English classes at Della Lamb for the Mid-winter term (March 1 – April 21) will be held at 1 p.m., at Della Lamb, 3608 St. John Ave. Items needed in order to enroll are photo identification and proof of income. The enrollment process will take approximately three hours. Free transportation is offered within a limited area. ESL classes are free to students speaking all languages.
