Hard hat tours
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family.  Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will host the free tours on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

La Chalupa Farmers Market
Mattie Rhodes’ La Chalupa Farmers Market will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and features locally grown produce. The farmers market will be held every Thursday at the Mattie Rhodes Center, 148 N. Topping Ave., Kansas City, Mo. SNAP/EBT cards will be accepted.

Football Fundraiser
Della Lamb Saints’ third grade football team is raising money for transportation to the national tournament “Battle in Rocky Top” in Tennessee. The team will be selling hot dogs, chips and drinks at Blue Valley Park from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All proceeds will go toward their trip.

Tootsie Roll Drive
The Knights of Columbus will hold its annual Tootsie Roll Drive the weekend of Oct. 14-16 outside of various churches and businesses in the area. Community members are invited to come out and support the mentally challenged with a donation and Tootsie Rolls.

A little bit of country, a little bit of rock & roll
A musical benefit for the Fox 4 Love Fund for Children will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Finnegan’s Hall, 503 E. 18th Ave., North Kansas City, Mo. Doors open at 6 p.m. and entertainment begins at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and dancers. Advance tickets are $15 and $20 at the door. In the Pink of the Evening Concert
Check out fire spinning set to drums and a saxophone from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. John Gardens, 3916-3920 St. John Ave. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and your own refreshments.

Health and Wellness Fair
The City Market, 5th and Walnut, will host a Health and Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pick up information on injury prevention, heartburn awareness, medication disposal, low-cost to no-cost health insurance programs for children, the Crohn’s & Cloitis Foundation, women’s care and others.

Haunted Northeast tour
Take a haunting tour through Kansas City’s Historic Northeast neighborhood. Hear stories about accidents, murders and other untimely passings, and how these spirits still linger in their historic homes. Also, hear ghostly stories about Corinthian Hall. Cost is $5 and the tour begins at 2 p.m. at the Kansas City Museum.

Take an extended hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family, with Kansas City Museum Director Christopher Leitch. The tour will be held at 12:30 p.m.

Holiday wreath workshop
Make special natural décor for the holidays with floral professional Mike Stringer. Meet at the Kansas City Museum for a morning of wreath making beginning at 10 a.m. Instructions and materials will be provided to make a 20-inch wreath. Cost is $20.

VFW Pumpkin Decorating Contest
VFW Post 9997, 6801 Wilson Rd., is hosting a pumpkin decorating contest from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. The contest will be for ages three to 13. Prizes will be awarded for the top three pumpkins in each age group. Every child will receive a free pumpkin. There will also be hot dogs and drinks, grab bags, other children’s activities and a live band.
