Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s
Play bingo at Hamburger Mary’s Bar and Grill, 101 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Mo, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. For each purchased bingo card, Newhouse Women’s Shelter will receive $1. Prizes will also be given away.

Indian Mound Clean-up
Indian Mound Neighborhood Association will hold a clean-up from 8 a.m. to noon. Residents are encouraged to bring their brush, leaves, tires and regular household trash items to the south side of Budd Park along Budd Park Esplanade for disposal. Volunteers are encouraged to attend to help clean up Budd Park and the surrounding area. Trash bags, work gloves, water and lunch will be provided.

Be Inspired Conference
Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts will host a Be Inspired Conference from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Paseo Academy, 4747 Flora Ave., Kansas City, Mo. The conference is for girls in seventh through 12th grades and will focus on inspiring young women to be their best.

Tour de Brew Kansas City
Celebrate the close of Bike Week and attend the wrap up celebration at 12:30 p.m. at Knuckleheads, 2715 Rochester St. in the East Bottoms. Attendees will receive a tour of the city’s historic and modern breweries, along with lunch, prize giveaways and a beer tasting.

 

Spaghetti and Meatballs
American Sons and Daughters of Columbus Hall will be hosting a spaghetti and meatballs dinner from 11:30 a.m. t o 5:30 p.m. at 2415 Independence Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Roller Derby benefits Newhouse
Check out Kansas City’s Dead Girl Derby at 6 p.m. to support Newhouse Women’s Shelter. Bring in items from the Newhouse immediate needs list (www.newhouseshelter.org/help) and enter to win prizes! Tickets cost $12. The game will be held at the River Roll Skate Center, 720 N.W. Gateway Ave., Riverside.

Kansas City Museum Curator Lecture
Learn about the delicate layers and textures of fashion designer Hattie Carnegie’s dresses at Kansas City Museum’s May Community Curator Lecture at 6 p.m. at Union Station. Dr. Sheryl Farnan Leipzig, Apparel and Textiles Program coordinator at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley, will delve into the intricate details of the famous designer’s dresses, including a 1933 wedding gown featured in the Union Station Kansas City/Kansas City Museum exhibit “Every Bride A Princess,” which is exhibited in conjunction with the “Diana: A Celebration” exhibit at Union Station. The exhibit features eight bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses dating from 1905 to 1984 worn by notable Kansas Citians.

 

Smashburger fundraiser
Visit Smashburger, 6551 119th St., Overland Park, Kan., from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Smashburger will donate 25 percent of the day’s proceeds to Newhouse Women’s Shelter.

 

EMPOWER Kidney Disease Classes
Free EMPOWER Kidney Disease classes are available on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Learn how to take control of kidney disease and make healthy choices. The next EMPOWER Kidney disease class will be held at Johnson County Central Library in Overland Park, Kan. Call (816) 842-0076 to register.
