Police were called Monday night about 11:30 to a residence at St. John and Askew on the report of a shooting. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered the victim, a 52-year-old white female suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 27-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and remains in police custody. The suspect is reported to be the victim’s son-in-law. The two were apparently involved in a dispute when the victim allegedly struck the suspect who then allegedly shot the victim. No other details have been released.
