Monday afternoon about 2:45 p.m., Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Mersington Court on a shooting call.
On arrival officers were directed to the front of a residence there where they located two adult males that appeared to have been shot.
Officers summoned EMS who responded and transported both victims to the hospital for treatment, one with life threatening injuries and one with what was thought to be non-life threatening injuries.
A short time later, officers at the hospital were notified that the victim with life threatening injuries died. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Marquis Kindred.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene for evidence and canvassed for witnesses to give them a better idea of what led up to the shooting.
Preliminary investigation indicates that both victims were in front of the residence there when they had an interaction with one or more suspects that led to shots being fired and the victims were struck.
