Don Bosco Family Support Center is reaching out to the city’s furry friends.

With the help of Spay & Neuter Kansas City, Don Bosco will offer a low cost dog and cat vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 25.

“To so many of us, our pets are the only companions we have and they need to be healthy, also,” Don Bosco Family Support Center Director Carla Brewer said. “I think it’s important to offer that (vaccination clinic) to our community. Our four legged friends are just as much a part of our family as our two-leggeds.”

Offering the low cost vaccination clinic helps area pet owners legalize their pets and avoid tickets, Brewer said.

Vaccinations will be available for $10 for cats and dogs at the Don Bosco Centers’ Gym, 531 Garfield, Kansas City, Mo.

All are invited to take advantage of the vaccination clinic, regardless of income.

In addition to vaccines, pet owners can also purchase a City of Kansas City license for $12 for altered pets and $35 for unaltered pets with a rabies vaccine purchase. Those wanting to keep a closer eye on their pet can purchase a $10 global positioning system (GPS) microchip, which Spay & Neuter Kansas City employees will safely insert in the pet.

Those with qualifying low incomes will receive vouchers to spay or neuter their pet at a discounted rate.

Last year, Spay & Neuter vaccinated more than 100 cats and dogs and handed out approximately 75 spay and neuter vouchers.
