Trade your four wheels for two and get started during Bike Week. This year BikeWalkKC and its regional partners are offering a Bike Week like no other. Bike Week 2011 will have a hallmark event every night of the week and will conclude with the Tour de Brew Kansas City ride this Sunday.

It’s Bagels on the Bridge Wednesday, May 18, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Heart of America Bridge. Join the City of Kansas City, the City of North Kansas City, the Missouri Department of Transportation, and Burns & McDonnell for bagels on the north end of the bridge. Learn how to put your bike on the bus and have breakfast with your fellow commuters.

Thursday, bikers can enjoy a bike-in movie and bike festival at 7 p.m. at Boulevard Drive-In, 1501 Merriam Lane, Kansas City, Kan. Boulevard Drive-In will show “E.T.” and other events will include bike races, a bike rodeo and 816 Bicycle Collective bicycle demonstration.

On Friday, Bike Week is promoting “families that ride together stay safe together.” Learn bicycle safety skills with the Leawood Police Department from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Leawood City Park at Shelters A and B. The clinic will include a bicycle safety check, helmet fitting, riding skills challenge course and family riding lessons. All participants will have free refreshments provided by Whole Foods and Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt.  The curriculum is designed by Eric Bunch, a League of American Bicyclist Certified Instructor and education director for BikeWalkKC.

The Crossroads Bike Fest will be held Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at 470 W. 23rd St., Kansas City, Mo. The 2nd Annual Bike-In Movie will be held under the Broadway viaduct for a unique view of the city.
