East High School celebrates cross cultural connections
East High School students will premier original student video works and books celebrating cross cultural connections at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., a free film event “Rain in a Dry Land” will be shown at the Screenland Theatre Crossroads, 1656 Washington.

Free concert at Budd Park
Hope Community Church will be hosting a free concert at Budd Park Saturday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Four bands will be featured, along with four pastors and local community agencies. Free hot dogs and hamburgers will also be available. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets. Budd Park is located at St. John and Denver.

 

Tour the World Business Crawl
The Annual International Business Crawl will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a reception from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Discover businesses along Independence and Prospect Boulevards on a walking tour or shuttle. Hard Hat Tours
Take an extended hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the 100-plus-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family, with Kansas City Museum Director Christopher Leitch. The tour begins at 12:30 p.m., 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Admission is free and ages 12 and up are welcome. History Walk and Talk
Explore the historic Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood and learn about early settlement and development along Missouri’s only urban scenic byway. Explore one of Kansas City’s oldest neighborhoods, Pendleton Heights, and see Victorian homes and views of Cliff Drive and Kessler Park. Tours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $5 per person or $15 for groups of four and includes a bottled water. Friends of the Kansas City Museum and children under 10 can walk free. Truman Plaza Area Plan public meeting
A public meeting for the Truman Plaza Area Plan will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the JD Wagner Boys & Girls Club, 2405 Elmwood. Discussions will include the area’s vision and goals, a review of recommendations from previous planning efforts and a presentation of recommendations repeated throughout the first public and online town hall meetings.

EMPOWER Kidney Disease Classes
Free EMPOWER Kidney Disease classes are available on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The May 17 class will be held at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo., and the May 24 class will be held at the Johnson County Central Library in Overland Park, Kan.
