NORTHEAST NEWS
July 11, 2012

For entertainment, Northeast residents should look no further than their backyard.

Two free concerts will be held this month – one hosted by the Kansas City Museum and the other hosted by Northeast Arts KC.

First up is the Kansas City Museum’s summer concert series, which will be held Friday, July 13, on the museum’s lawn, 3218 Gladstone Blvd. Run Little Rabbit, a three-person string band from Kansas City, Kan., will perform at 7 p.m. Band members Rachel Pollock, Michaela Meckel and Leslie Hammer began playing together in 2010 for friends in the cozy comfort of living rooms. Later, they decided to take their show on the road and have been performing gigs ever since.

Northeast Arts KC’s In the Pink of the Evening Summer Concert Series will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in the Colonnade at Concourse Park, St. John Avenue and Benton Boulevard.

Beau Bledsoe will strum classical guitar while his wife, Zhanna, dances the flamenco.

Bledsoe studied classical guitar at the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance and earned a Master of Music. Bledsoe has performed in nearly every U.S. state and has also performed around the world in places like Argentina, Germany, France, Turkey, among others. National Public Radio, Radio1 BBC and “Segovia a Yupanki” Radio Nacional Argentina regularly feature his music.
