BREAKING — Just before 3:30 a.m., on Friday morning, April 18, Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD) crews were dispatched to the 4200 block of 7th Street within the Lykins neighborhood on a reported house fire call.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a two-story structure engulfed in flames, which led crews to begin performing defensive operations, according to a release from KCFD battalion Chief Michael Hopkins, Friday.

KCFD has confirmed this location has caught fire previously and is thought to be a vacant building at this time.

This incident is currently under KCFD investigation including the fire’s cause. No injuries were reported and a Dangerous Buildings report was filed.
