A Northeast resident is suing the Diocese for alleged sexual harassment that occurred while he worked for the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph.

Larry Probst filed the civil lawsuit this week in the U.S. District Court, requesting damages for mental and emotional pain. Probst alleged he endured sexually offensive language and sexual advances from a co-worker while working in the archives department. Probst began working in the archives around 2000 and continued to work there through June of 2011.

On multiple occasions, Probst reported the sexual harassment to Catholic officials, court documents stated. As a result, Probst’s co-workers allegedly ostracized him. Probst was terminated from his job at the end of June, 2011, and claims his termination was the result of reporting the sexual harassment. Following his termination, a woman less qualified for the job was hired, the lawsuit stated.
