Jackson County prosecutors have charged 20-year-old Umar Muhammad with the Thursday morning shooting of 25-year-old Mohamed Hussein of Kansas City.

According to court documents, Muhammad was involved in some type of altercation with Hussein a few days prior. Witnesses indicated that Muhammad arrived at the park at Independence and Brooklyn in a black Honda and began walking toward the victim. Witnesses then indicated that they heard shots and saw Hussein fall to the sidewalk and Muhammad flee the scene on foot.

A second suspect, 31-year-old Senica Kieth, was arrested at the scene and is being held in the county’s detention unit. Muhammad was arrested and booked into custody on Thursday, charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
