Special to Northeast News

Kansas City’s recent snowfall is icing on the cake for organizers of the 24th Annual Disc Golf Ice Bowl.
The Ice Bowl is slated for this Saturday and Sunday with registration beginning at 8:45 a.m. at Rosedale Park, 40th and Mission Road, Kansas City, Kan.
Kansas City Flying Disc Club, a non-profit organization based in Historic Northeast, holds the event every year to “help the hungry.”
Since 2003, the club has raised more than $30,000 for the Bishop Sullivan Center and food pantry.
Last year, more than 400 people participated in the event.
Event organizers are hoping to raise $6,000 locally and the worldwide goal is $300,000 to support local charities.
There are three rules for the Ice Bowl: 1. Under no circumstances will the Ice Bowl be postponed or cancelled. 2. No whimps or whiners allowed. 3. There are no excuses for not attending.
Entry fee for the event is $20, which includes a commemorative disc, a mini disc, lunch and a $10 to the Bishop Sullivan Center.
All players are welcome, regardless of ability. All will have a chance to win a prize and a “closest-to- -the-pin” contests will be held to further support the Bishop Sullivan Center.
Participants are also encouraged to bring additional goodies for lunch and items that can be used as prizes.
