KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Residents made a splash at the polls on election day.

On Tuesday, Kansas City, Mo. voters overwhelmingly voted yes for Question 1, authorizing the city to sell $500 million in water bonds. The measure received over 80 percent support from residents, 13564 votes for yes, compared to the 18 percent, 3,084 votes, for no.

Of the 213,018 registered voters, only 16,804, or 7.89 %, cast a vote today.

All questions on Tuesday’s ballot —  a fee for hotel inspections, and three charter changes, including one pushing city elections back into the spring — were approved by voters.

Two seats on the Kansas City Public Schools Board of Education were also filled. For School Director sub-district four, a five-year term, Melissa Robinson was elected with over 70 percent of the vote over Joseph Jackson. Filling two seats for School Director At-Large, both five-year terms, Patricia Mansur and Amy Hartsfield were elected with 37 and 27 percent of the vote, respectfully, over Catina Taylor and Janelle Bailey, nine and 23 percent, respectfully.
