The Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness and the Kansas City Public Library will be hosting the annual Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day this Friday, Dec. 21 from 2p.m. to 4 p.m.
A walking vigil will begin at the Rivermarket and end at the Downtown Library to commemorate the lives of homeless and formerly homeless members of our community who passed away in 2018.
Participants will meet at the Arabia Steamboat Museum (400 Grand Blvd) at 2 p.m., make the .8 mile walk to the library, and conclude the walk at Central Library (14 W. 10th St).
There will be a short ceremony at the library as well as a brief time for fellowship and distribution of bags for any homeless neighbors in the area who could benefit.
Light refreshments will be provided.
The mission of the Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness is to end homelessness by leading metro-wide advocacy, collaboration, funding, and training initiatives. For more information, please visit gkcceh.org.
