KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Friday wasn’t just a day where one could stop at the City Market for food, but also where one could view or take part in a quick wedding.
Robert and Stephanie Jackson were one of the first couple to get hitched inside the heated glass pavilion. Robert said the couple has been together for 13 years. They met as coworkers and first started dating, he added, by breaking the rule to “not date coworkers at work.”
The City Market hosted 14 free weddings and vow renewals. For the past seven years, the market has hosted the free nuptials for couples. Beginning at noon, ceremonies were held every 15 minutes until around 3:30 p.m. At the end of each ceremony, which was conducted by Rev. John Navarre, each couple received a double-decker cupcake.
