BREAKING- At 1:17 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, The Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD) was called to the 3400 block of Gardner Ave., within the Northeast Industrial District on a reported house fire.

Upon arrival, KCFD crews discovered a vacant, two-story structure, ablaze and emitting heavy smoke, according to a release from KCFD Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins, Thursday.

Firefighters performed offensive operations and initiated a full-building search, which came back all clear, according to Hopkins.

No injuries were reported at this time; A Dangerous Buildings case was requested following this incident, and the cause of the fire currently remains under KCFD investigation.
