Two boys, ages 14 and 17, were shot, resulting in one teen paralyzed from the waist down, the afternoon of Jan. 5, 2011 in a drive-by shooting near Thompson and Jackson avenues in the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood.

The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney charged Arnulvo Cordova, 19, with two felony counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action, on Jan. 6, 2011. Two juveniles were in the car with Cordorva at the time of the shooting. His bond is set at $250,000 cash.

Witnesses state a gold, four-door vehicle was seen driving westbound on Thompson Avenue. As the vehicle approached the boys, a Hispanic male began shooting at them from inside the car. The vehicle made three passes, with the youths on the ground following the shooting, firing additional rounds and shouting racial slurs.

This incident followed an altercation between individuals inside the gold vehicle and other individuals inside a maroon vehicle earlier in the day.
