A Northeast resident was sentenced to life without parole Aug. 2 in his connection to a double-murder.
A Jackson County jury found 20-year-old Todd B. Fonville guilty in the April 2011 shooting deaths of Jose Morales and Debeney Kreiling.
Fonville was sentenced on six felony counts, including Murder 2 in the death of Morales, Murder 1 in the death of Kreiling, armed criminal action, leaving the scene and knowingly burning.
Fonville’s co-defendent, Miguel Apodaca, 29, has pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the deaths of Morales and Kreiling. Apodaca was sentenced Aug. 3 to 20 years in prison.
According to court documents, Fonville and Apodaca robbed the victims and proceeded to shoot them inside a residence in the 5800 block of Anderson. The two men placed the bodies in a vehicle, drove to Cliff Drive and set the vehicle on fire.
Fire crews responded to the vehicle fire at approximately 6:30 p.m. April 11, 2011, and discovered the two bodies inside. Both bodies were burned beyond recognition.
While fleeing the scene, Fonville also struck a three-year-old child and kept driving.
