Weddings can be costly. But, love birds willing to get hitched or renew their vows on Feb. 14 can have their wedding cost-free at the City Market.
For a third year, the City Market is hosting its “Tie the Knot” event Feb. 14, which offers a free wedding venue for couples.
Tie the Knot will be held in the heated glass pavilion in the Market Square, which normally costs a minimum of $5,500 to rent.
“The glass shed is really pretty,” Anthony Butler of City Market said. “It’s in the heart of downtown, so it’s conveniently located to lots of different shops and restaurants.
“It’s where Kansas City started as well, so it’s got a lot of history to it.”
Lights, sparkling hearts, flowers, red carpet and other wedding décor will don the pavilion. “Intimate seating” will be available to seat at least 50 people.
A Justice of Peace will perform the wedding ceremonies, compliments of Wedlox Weddings.
Also, the bride and groom can “cut the cake” in front of guests with mini cakes from Bloom Baking Company.
Spots are filling fast and are available between noon and 3 p.m. Feb. 14. Each wedding ceremony will be held in 15 minute intervals.
Advance registration is required and interested couples should reserve a spot by calling Wedlox Weddings, (816) 363-1932. For more details, contact City Market, (816) 842-1271.
