Despite fireworks being illegal in Kansas City, Friday morning brought the familiar scene of spent fireworks and exploded red paper to streets and parks throughout Historic Northeast. Concourse Park, one of the more popular places to discharge said illegal explosives, looked as if a paper shredder had dumped its load on the grass. Every year the Parks Department dedicates upwards of three days cleaning up area parks and boulevards after the July 4th holiday. Photos by Michael Bushnell and Josh Phillips
