To the Editor:

I am very thankful for this (foot patrolling) project. My neighbors and I are excited to hear about the foot patrol; we’ve been needing something like this for awhile.

There are many of us who take care of our homes, have children, care about each other as neighbors and look out for each other. I want to feel safe walking a short distance to my local store rather than a vehicle trip, or sit on my front porch without worry. I understand the area I live in and crime is a fact of life due to some factors, but programs like this that band our officers and community together will do a world of good.
