A 34-year-old Kansas City man has now been charged in the shooting that occurred March 9 near 23rd and Hardesty Avenue.
According to court records, three men were stopped at a red light at 23rd and Hardesty Avenue when a red Cadillac pulled alongside. The Cadillac’s driver and occupant yelled something at the three males, produced a handgun and fired several shots, striking a passenger in the head. The vehicle with the injured passenger sped westbound on Truman Road and police pursued it to the hospital, where police learned that the man had been shot. Police traced the red Cadillac to David Garcia, who was identified by a witness. Detectives learned the victim suffered severe brain damage.
Garcia has been charged with first degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.
