Christmas is a time of giving and that’s just what the folks at Children’s Memorial Lutheran Church did when they teamed up with Jared Innis at AllStar Tow & Recovery Company.

This year’s lucky recipient of a refurbished 1996 Ford Thunderbird was Sherylyn Langston of Historic Northeast.

“I love it,” said Langston, a single mother of three who hopes to start a new job later this month. “My old car is falling apart. It will hardly get me up the block.

“This car and these great folks here are an absolute Godsend.”

When asked what the first thing she was going to do in the car, she said, “Take my kids Christmas shopping.”

Innis, who owns AllStar Tow & Recovery, said the car came from an unclaimed city tow in Kansas City, Kan., and has a clear title.

“We’d like to do this every day of the year, but that would be a little time consuming,” Innis said. “This is a great Christmas gift for her and will allow her to continue to rebuild her life and get back on track.”

As Innis signed the title over to Langston, he slid her a crisp, new $100 bill.

“This should help with taxes and tags,” he said.

The spirit of Christmas? You bet – right here in Northeast.
