KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Show Me KC Schools, a resource for families in Kansas City searching for the right school for their children, has debuted a new website.
With the launch, Show Me KC Schools provides families with greater capacity to search, evaluate and compare schools. Visitors to ShowMEKCSchools.org will now find it easier to navigate the choices of public, private and charter schools in Kansas City. The new site offers a comparison tool that will allows parents to compare four schools at once with side-by-side evaluation. An enhanced district map has additional features to help parent’s locate the best school for them. The nonprofit organization Show Me KC Schools launched on October 21, 2013.
The new site will be regularly updated so parents can access the latest information about every district charter, private, and parochial school within the KCPS district boundaries. Each school’s profile includes its mission statement, test scores, demographic data, enrollment deadlines contact information and more.
Tricia Johnson, executive director of Show Me KC Schools, said in a press release that, “over the past year, parents and community leaders have repeatedly told us that Show Me KC Schools is filling a critical information gap in Kansas City. They’ve also asked for more robust tools to search and compare schools.”
In addition to its website, Show Me KC schools offers unique parent-centered programming. The Parent-to-Parent School Fairs facilitate direct conversations among parents searching for schools with parents representing a wide variety of district, charter, private and parochial schools. The next event in the ParentConnect series will explore the perils of over-programing youth on Monday, April 27 when Show Me KC Schools co-hosts a film screening of “Race to Nowhere,” with the Kansas City Public Library and The Lean Lab and followed by a community discussion moderated by Crosby Kemper.
