On Sunday, May 7th, just before 6:15pm, Kansas City, MO Police officers were called to the area of 12th street and Denver Avenue on the call of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim in the area of 12th street and Van Brunt Blvd suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. KCFD EMS personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition.
Detectives and crime scene personnel processed the scene for evidence and interviewed potential witnesses.
On Sunday, May 14th, the victim, seventeen year old Kavon Carter died as a result of his injuries. Detectives with the Homicide Unit have taken over the case at the time of Carter’s death.
Anyone with any information in regards to the case is asked to call the Homicide Unit directly at 816-234-5043. Or if you wish to remain anonymous you can do so by calling the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.
