An early morning shooting at the corner of Van Brunt Boulevard and
Scarritt Avenues in the Indian Mound neighborhood today has turned in to a larger investigation.
At roughly 5:15 am this morning, a flurry of Kansas City, Missouri
Police officers responded to the area of Scarritt and Van Brunt Blvd on a
sound of shots call. Upon arrival, a crime scene was established and an
investigation centered on a home at the Northeast corner of Van Brunt
and Scarritt Avenue.
According to Police, a suspect was observed outside a home at the
corner of Van Brunt and Scarritt, firing a weapon at the residence.
Approximately fifty shots were fired striking a vehicle in front of the
residence as well as the residence.
Once the shooting stopped, the victim got in his tow truck and
attempted to locate the suspect who had fled on foot. The suspect was
not located and the victim returned to the residence and contacted
officers.
Tactical officers returned to the area later in the morning to serve a
search warrant at a nearby residence allegedly in search of one of the weapons used in the shooting this morning.
The investigation is ongoing.
