The middle school students at the Ryogoku Soccer Academy shared their ideas for making Northeast a cleaner, safer and healthier place to live at last Friday’s Passion Project Presentation.

The projects ranged from cleaning up North Terrace Lake in Kessler Park, providing unhoused neighbors with resources, reducing food waste in local grocery stores, preventing teen drug use, recycling, drinking water in public spaces, reforestation and more.

The projects fit into the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. The students regularly connect with and receive advice from experts in sustainability and environmental work, and many students have been developing their ideas over multiple years.
