KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Local authorities have increased a reward for information leading to an arrest for those responsible for highway shootings.

According to Det. Kevinn Boehm, crime stopper coordinator for the Kansas City, Mo. Police Department, up to $7,000 could be rewarded to anyone who provides credible information via the TIPS Hotline about the 13 area highway shootings that have taken place recently in Kansas City, Mo.

The KCPD, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Federal Bureau of Investigation have collaborated to offer an increased reward for anonymous information. Each federal agency has pledged $2,500, which combined with the up to $2,000 from Crime Stoppers, brings the current reward up to $7,000 for information.

Police officials said a number of the 13 highway shootings reported in the past month are connected, however, they did not identify how many were linked together or the connection. Ten of the 13 shootings happened in Kansas City, Mo., most near the Grandview Triangle area. The other three took place in Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit and Leawood. The Twitter account for the KCPD suggests drivers be alert, but changing day-to-day activities isn’t necessary.
