Staffers and volunteers at the Mattie Rhodes Center on North Topping are busy this afternoon providing Thanksgiving meals to over 100 of their clients who are in need of food assistance.
The fully cooked Thanksgiving meal was donated with funds provided by Jackson County CARES Act funds. Freshly baked Apple pies by the HyVee grocery store at N. W. 64th Street and I-29 consists of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, an apple pie, all ready for the Thanksgiving table.
“The pandemic has taken its toll on the communities we serve,” said Maddie Rhodes President and CEO John Fierro. “We are so grateful to be able to bring some joy to our clients with a special holiday meal for their families in need.”
