Kansas City Missouri Public Works employees are busy this morning replacing signs on The Paseo after November’s vote to reverse a council action last June that changed the name of the Boulevard to Dr. Martin Luther King jr. Blvd.
Work began at the Gate 1 entrance to Cliff Drive and will proceed South until all signs have been replaced.
We spoke with Diane Euston who headed the save the Paseo campaign who indicated seeing the old name restored to the nine plus mile boulevard was bittersweet due to the historical significance of the Paseo name and the process in which the city engaged to change the name to Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard. “I’m glad the city expedited this and kept to their word after the vote in November,” Euston said.
Crews will work through the next few weekends replacing the signs.
