Sunday afternoon just before 2 PM, Kansas City, MO Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of E. 9th St. and Van Brunt Blvd. on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers were directed to the sidewalk where an unresponsive adult male victim, later identified as 29 year old William C. Wright of Kansas City was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid until EMS could respond and take over. EMS personnel responded and declared the victim deceased shortly after arrival.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently unknown and there are no suspects in custody.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. Rosilyn Temple with KC Mothers In Charge has responded to the scene to provide victim assistance to those impacted by this incident.
