Monday, December 9 at 2:30 a.m., an off-duty officer radioed for help at his residence in the 3500 block of St John Avenue, informing officers he had fired shots at an intruder inside his residence.
The officer said he was home alone when he heard the sounds of an intruder, went downstairs, and found an unknown male in his residence.
Fearing for his safety, the officer fired multiple shots at the intruder, who then ran from the scene.
It is unknown at this time if the intruder was struck by gunfire. Officers did an area canvas in the blocks around the residence and did not locate the intruder.
Local hospitals were checked for gunshot victims as well. At the time of this printing, no one has been located.
Detectives and crime scene personnel were processing the scene Monday morning to gather further evidence.
