There’s a new face at Northeast News – Missouri Valley College senior Tessa Belcher of Edgerton, Mo.

As our summer editorial intern, she’s not out grabbing coffee, she’s out in the field. Last week, she took pictures and wrote a brief about the Disc Golf Elite National Tour 2011 Kansas City Wide Open and she’s already hard at work on our back-to-school section.

Belcher is an English major and is actively involved with Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Theta Phi Alpha, tutoring English and the Purple Patch College Publication.

Asked why she wanted to intern at Northeast News, she said, “I wanted to learn more about an aspect of the career I’m hoping to pursue.”

She also wanted to work in the big city.

“I’m looking forward to progressing in journalism and in my knowledge of Kansas City,” Belcher said.

Following college graduation, she plans to attend grad school on one of the coasts.

A little more about Belcher? Her favorite movie is “500 Days of Summer” and her favorite food is the classic mac and cheese.
