This week the Northeast News released its inaugural edition of Northeast Narratives, a collection of neighborhood stories, historical analysis, and social service breakdowns that represent the cultural mosaic that makes up the Historic Northeast corner of Kansas City.
A project spearheaded by Northeast News community engagement intern EllieAna Hale, Northeast Narratives began as an initiative to spread the stories of Northeast in an educational and meaningful way.
As written in the introduction of Northeast Narratives, Hale states, “Our magazine is not just a publication; it’s a platform for unity, pride, and collective action. Through inclusive storytelling and a commitment to authenticity, we seek to amplify the voices of our residents and promote a deeper sense of belonging.”
The inaugural edition has been proudly sponsored by the Kansas City Museum, Revolucion Educativa (RevEd) and the Mattie Rhodes Center.
Northeast Narratives spotlights the history of The Northeast News, the various neighborhoods that make up the ever changing fabric of our community and offers a comprehensive guide to the many social services found in the Historic Northeast Community.
