First Degree Murder charges have been filed by Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker this afternoon against Aden Ahmed for the killing of a fifteen year old boy near Admiral Boulevard and Lydia yesterday afternoon.
The fifteen year old youth has died as a result of his injuries sustained yesterday afternoon when Ahmed, according to Police reports deliberately targeted the victim who was getting in to his vehicle outside the Muslim Community Center on Admiral Boulevard. According to witness reports, the SUV struck the victim and nearly severed his legs from his torso in the process. The SUV then fled the scene at a high rate of speed and was allegedly pointing a gun and waving a machete at witnesses. The victim was transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
In addition to the murder charges, Ahmed has been charged with Armed Criminal Action, Leaving the scene of an accident and unlawful use of a weapon. Prosecutors have requested a $250,000 bond in the case.
