The motorcyclist who was critically injured in Thursday night’s hit and run crash has died.

Jeremy Herron, 47, was driving a motorcycle when he crashed into the median and was run over by another driver at Independence Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard Thursday night.

Emergency personnel responded to a hit and run injury collision just before 11 p.m.

Kansas City Police Department officers’ investigation revealed that a blue and white Vitacci Titan ERS 250 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Independence Avenue. At Independence and Van Brunt, the motorcycle struck the center concrete median, ejecting the motorcyclist off the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was then struck by a white Honda Accord that left the scene. The Honda was located by East Patrol Division officers near 12th Street and Oakley Avenue, and the driver was taken into custody.

The motorcyclist was transported to University Health TMC, where he died from his injuries on July 29. The investigation is ongoing.
