On the evening of June 7, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers responded to Gardner and North Monroe regarding a life threatening injury collision involving a motorcycle, a Ford Ranger and a Kenworth truck-tractor and trailer.
An eastbound Kawasaki motorcycle on Gardner was avoiding a truck-tractor and trailer turning westbound to southbound onto North Monroe when the Kawasaki motorcycle veered into the westbound lanes, striking a Ford truck head-on. The driver of the Kawasaki motorcycle was ejected over the Ford truck and was found lying in the street.
The Kawasaki motorcycle was redirected after striking the Ford truck into the right lane and striking a white Kenworth truck-tractor and trailer. The Kawasaki motorcycle was dragged by the trailer portion of the Kenworth until final rest. The driver of the Kawasaki motorcycle was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
The unidentified male driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on June 7 as a result of his injuries sustained in the collision.
