KANSAS CITY, Missouri – More space to relax in the Northeast.

This past Friday, Eleos Coffee House, 3401 Independence Ave., opened its doors to its new, expanded seating area. The room, which has been under construction for several months, includes extra tables and chairs in a rustic decor with burlap sacks in lieu of drapes and curtains, a serving bar and more room for its coffee.

Eleos knocked out an adjacent wall to the current space to offer additional, more intimate seating, practically doubling the size of the space of the coffee house.

The night included music to celebrate the expansion. Nearly 60 people filled up the room to converse with friends, enjoy coffee and sandwiches or to relax while taking in some tunes. Northeast resident Brian Burton said he goes to Eleos almost everyday for Bible studies from 10 – 11 a.m. He said owner Dan Smith did a marvelous job with the rehabbed room.

“I think it’s great they did this,” Burton said. “Eleos holds a very important niche to the community. Different people come for different reasons and connect with people from all over. The Northeast needs that.”
