One man is dead following an overnight shooting near 19th and Vine Street.
This morning at 10 minutes after midnight, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers were dispatched initially to the area of 18th and Vine on a shooting call. On arrival officers located evidence of a crime scene south of 19th and Vine in the street.
At the same time officers arrived to the scene, they were notified that a shooting victim arrived at the hospital by way of private vehicle. That victim, an adult male, was declared deceased at the hospital.
Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred in the street south of 19th and Vine. Detectives believe that multiple people were nearby the area and may have information about what led up to the shooting.
Investigators would like to speak to anyone that has any information. Detectives canvassed the area for witnesses into the early morning and crime scene investigators processed the scene for evidence.

Update: The victim has been identified as Mortez C. Falkner B/M 09/07/1989.
