KANSAS CITY, Missouri — An Independence man has been charged for the Nov. 30th death of a Northeast resident.
Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said in a press release Joel Suarez, 39, of Independence, Mo., has been charged for the fatal stabbing of Victor Albarran. Suarez has been charged with first-degree murder, a class A felony; first-degree burglary, a class B felony; and two counts of armed criminal action, both a felony.
According to court documents, the Kansas City Police were called to the 5200 block of Scarritt Avenue around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 30, 2014. Upon arrival, the KCPD were advised by a neighbor that the resident inside was dead. The victim was transported to an area hospital for emergency medical intervention, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The cause of death was ruled to be from multiple stab wounds.
Witness told police Suarez said he was going to kill the victim not long before he drove his vehicle to Albarran’s residence. He used a foot to kick in the door and Suarez stabbed the unarmed victim multiple times with a knife. The victim’s body was found in the bathroom of his residence. Bloody clothing was later found in Suarez’s apartment, along with blood in the drain of the tub. Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
